FIRE PIT FOODS CHILDREN WILL LOVE

One of the most popular activities at Play & Bloom’s Forest School is cooking on the fire! As it is starting to warm up, and dare I say it become BBQ time, I thought I would share the most popular fire pit recipes!

Orange Cinnamon Swirls A yummy, fluffy, citrus treat! To make an orange cinnamon swirl you will need to: 1) cut an orange in half and scoop out the inside 2) take some ready rolled puff pastry and sprinkle over sugar and cinnamon powder. Roll up and cut into sections. 3) put a cinnamon swirl inside the orange and wrap in tin foil. 4) put your treat on the embers of a fire and cook for 15-20 minutes.

Corn on the Cob Simple yet tasty! 1) wrap corn on the cob in tin foil with a dollop of butter! 2) cook on the fire until soft and golden!

Banana Smores A gooey chocolate heaven! 1) split a banana in half length ways 2) push marshmallows and chocolate into the middle 3) wrap in tin foil and cook on the fire until the inside is all gooey!

Toast! The simplest of them all! Fruit toast and hot cross buns are so tasty cooked on the fire. Use tongs or a grill to keep it off the flames and use the embers to toast! Let me know if you have any additions to add to the list! Happy cooking!
